Our speaker for August Lunch & Learn is Lucy Cline who will demonstrate Sumi-e, which is Japanese for black ink painting.  In Sumi-e the focus is on the beauty of each stroke of the brush. More detailed information as well as many examples can be found at Sumi-e Society of America.     Lucy will be bringing some inks and watercolors so if you would like to try it yourself, bring watercolor paper, newspaper (to practice on), a couple of small plastic containers for water and a paint brush(sumi if you have one or a large round). Lucy is an emerging professional artist. Originally from Taiwan, she has lived in the Nashville area for 45 years. A product of Tennessee State University, Watkins School of Art at Nashville, and Volunteer State Community College, she has studies with some of the area’s most prominent artists and has specialized in Floral Landscape studies for over 10 years.
